2022 Volkswagen ID.4 vs 2021 Mustang MACH-E Select

There might not be two electric vehicles that are more different from each other than the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Ford Mustang MACH-E. Heavily influenced by the Mustang, the MACH-E Select has a sporty personality but yet it is bested by the ID.4 in many important categories. The ID.4 has a greater maximum range, better EPA-estimated fuel economy, and more cargo capacity than the MACH-E. The smaller size of the ID.4 makes it easier to park and yet it features nearly the same amount of room for passengers. If you’re don’t need to relive the glory days with the Mustang of the future, it’s clear to see that the ID.4 is the right call.

1HomeStationLevel 2 wallbox, can deliver charging speeds of up to 9.6kW under the 40 amp configuration – 6.8 times faster than on a Level 1 charger. This means capable vehicles can add up to 33 miles of range per hour while charging on the HomeStation. The HomeStation can be plugged in using a NEMA 14-50 style plug or hardwired by a licensed and qualified electrician.

2Claim based on driving 15,000 miles per year, using EPA fuel economy estimates for ID.4 and EPA assumptions for MY21 vehicles of $2.70 per gallon of gasoline, $0.13 kW-hr for electric charging and an average gasoline vehicle fuel economy of 27 MPG Combined City/Highway. Assumes home charging of ID.4. Actual savings, if any, will vary and depend on several factors including location, driving and charging habits, fuel price fluctuations, temperature and topography, accessory use, battery age, load, and vehicle condition.

3ID.4 equipped with fast charging capability maximum rate of 125kW. Based on charging at a 125kW or higher charger. Charging times will vary and depend on a variety of factors, including ambient temperature, charger type, battery condition and initial state of charge, vehicle condition and others. Frequent and consecutive fast charging can permanently decrease battery capacity.
